Welcome to Ross Fowler & Co
The accountancy firm of Ross Fowler & Co has its origins going back to just after the end of World War II. Edward Cavenagh-Mainwaring (Ted Mainwaring) recently discharged from the Army after serving in New Guinea during the war and a resident of Western Sydney was looking to establish an accountancy business. Industrial land in St Marys, the former munitions factory site was being released for development and a number of emerging manufacturers and firms were setting up business in the general area. Ted Mainwaring started providing professional services for these emerging businesses and as a result established an accountancy practice in St Marys. The practice grew and he was subsequently joined by Kevin Houseman who remained with him for a number of years before opening his own practice.
In 1974 Ross Fowler became a partner with Ted Mainwaring and the business was then conducted under the name of Mainwaring Fowler. Ted Mainwaring retired from the practice in 1993. With the growing importance of Penrith as a regional city the decision was made to move the practice from St Marys to Penrith to coincide with the move, which occurred in 1999 the practice’s name was changed to Ross Fowler & Co. The principal Ross Fowler is well known within the Community having served on Penrith City Council as an Alderman and Councillor since 1991. The Fowler family have a long association with local government in the Penrith area with Ross’s father Bernie Fowler a former Mayor of Penrith serving for some 23years on Penrith Council and his Grandfather John being an Alderman for a number of years on the former Mulgoa Municipal Council.
